THE UK HEALTHTECH STARTUPS TO WATCH
ONES TO WATCH:
UK HEALTHTECH STARTUPS
Digital health is a quickly-scaling sector with the global market expected to be worth almost $9 billion by the end of the decade.
Here are the five UK healthtech startups shaping the future of preventative care.
FIVE BUSINESSES SHAPING DIGITAL HEALTH
1 // CHRONOMICS
Your age tells one story. But your biology tells another.
London-based Chronomics looks at your biological age and long-term health risks, using saliva DNA tests to identify early signals of stress, inflammation and accelerated aging. The goal? To enable preventative action long before illness takes hold.
Chronomics combines epigenetics, the study of how environmental factors, behaviours, and lifestyle choices (such as diet, stress, and toxins) influence gene expression, with machine learning to translate complex biological data into easy-to-understand insights for everyday life.
The company has raised approximately $1.4 million in seed funding from investors including Anthemis Group and SOSV.
2 // ZOE
Seen those bright yellow patches stuck to the top of people’s arms? That’s ZOE, a business focusing on personalised nutrition and long-term metabolic health.
Founded in 2017 by Professor Tim Spector, the company combines wearable data, microbiome testing, and large-scale clinical research to understand how people respond to food. The result is nutrition advice grounded in evidence.
It now runs one of the world’s largest ongoing nutrition studies, with hundreds of thousands of participants. Backed by more than $75 million from investors including Balderton Capital, it continues to scale across the UK and the US.
3 // CYTED HEALTH
Currently there is no universal solution for combatting cancer, but what about earlier diagnosis?
Cyted Health is working to detect cancer and pre-cancerous conditions before symptoms appear through diagnostic tests. Earlier detection enables faster treatment, fewer invasive procedures, and better survival rates.
Fresh from a $44 million funding round, Cyted Health is expanding across the UK and internationally.
4 // DOCTIFY
Finding the right clinician should be straightforward. Often, it isn’t and it results in frustration on both sides.
Doctify helps patients find, compare and trust healthcare professionals through verified reviews and clear information. Using Doctify people can hear from fellow patients with the same conditions across the world, so they can make confident, informed decisions.
The platform has appeared multiple times on the FT 1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies.
5 // CERA
Cera technology is enabling people to be independent for longer.
It combines human support with predictive technology, analysing patient data in real time. Cera identifies early signs of deterioration before they turn into falls, infections, or hospital admissions. The result is better outcomes for patients and less strain on hospitals and social care services.
To date Cera has raised $150 million and has deep NHS partnerships.
LOOKING AHEAD
UK healthtech growth is entering a more demanding phase. Prevention, longevity and personalised care are leading the development. From home-based care and early diagnostics to nutrition science and biological ageing, each sector is building infrastructure for long-term health. Some are already operating at scale. Others are approaching it.
